miles found the crosswalk button was silent today at this intersection, but she says yesterday was different. yesterday was the first day that that when you press the thing, you got mark zuckerberg. and i don't know what that was about. she quickly thought the voice claiming to be mark zuckerberg was ai, but wasn't sure what to make of it. what did you hear? how he was saying that this is okay to have ai. we're going to have it anyway. something like that. hi, this is mark zuckerberg, but real ones call me the zuck. this video was posted on social media, and so was another video from palo alto that appeared to imitate another voice. hi, this is elon musk. welcome to palo alto, the home of tesla engineering. you know, they say money can't buy happiness. the city of palo alto says saturday morning, a city employee noted the voice announcement feature on the crosswalk at university and high street wasn't working properly.

the city later found that 12 downtown intersections were also malfunctioning and may have been tampered with. on friday, a city official says the city has disabled the audible feature until further repairs can be made. they say other traffic signals around the city were checked and the impact was isolated. signal operations were otherwise not affected. we also reached out to the city of menlo park, where other videos of tampered signals were taken and have yet to hear back. a bay area tech expert believes it's ai generated audio and something municipalities will be closely watching moving forward. i think this is going to be some kind of a wake up call for the cities to make sure that they don't rely on the fact that this is something nobody will do it. and there's another side to consider. it's risky for people, you know, who want to cross the street. you know, you never know how many people are going to be distracted. it's not clear who's behind the apparent hack or what the consequences might be if

they're caught. does it surprise you that that would happen? yeah. in palo alto, christie smith, nbc bay area news. in berkeley, one person is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting early this morning, just before seven police got multiple calls about a woman screaming for help inside a home on university avenue near magee avenue. when officers arrived, they made contact with the person inside who threatened to shoot officers. that person also left an apartment armed with a gun, then went back inside. officers secured the area and began negotiating with the person when they came out again with the gun. officers opened fire, shooting them. they're in the hospital in critical condition. no one else was hurt. protesters are fighting to make a busy oakland intersection safer for pedestrians. it comes after a beloved uc berkeley professor was hit and killed while crossing the street back in february. sociology professor michael brauer was killed in a crosswalk on grand avenue near the park view terrace. that's near lake merritt this afternoon. dozens of

demonstrators gathered at the intersection. they're calling on city leaders to change traffic rules in the area. and they held a vigil for the man they say touched so many lives. people ask you, do you know michael, right? and they'll remember him jumping on desks to get students involved in the class. he learned the name of every student in undergraduate and undergraduate seminar of 200 people. he would inspire students to believe that they could be anything. brownley is best known for creating a sociological theory called public sociology. it's a framework to help merge sociology theories with real world current events. well, a pivotal week ahead for the city of oakland. voters will vote on a new mayor to fill the rest of the term vacated by sheng thao after she was recalled. oaklanders will also vote on a tax measure, and district two residents will vote for a new council member. after nikki fortunato bas was elected to serve as an alameda county supervisor. alameda county opened its four day polling places this weekend, bringing the total number of vote centers for the special election to

discuss tariffs. that's after the president announced he would halt most of his planned higher targeted tariffs for 90 days. meloni has previously said she supported an offer made by the european commission to introduce a zero for zero tariff deal to avert a trade war. italy's exports to the u.s. are worth 10% of its total exports. the white house physician says president trump is in excellent health. doctor sean barbarella says the 78 year old president is fully fit to execute the duties of commander in chief. the doctor released a memo today describing the results of president president trump's annual physical onn friday. he says an exam of trump's heart, lungs, eyes, hearing and abdomen were all normal and a comprehensive neurological exam found no abnormalities. the exam did note that trump has scarring on his right ear, where he was shot during an assassination attempt in butler, pennsylvania, last year. a bishop who made headlines in january for addressing president trump directly in a sermon spoke in san francisco today. the reverend mary ann buddy gave a

tomorrow at 430, the team hosting a watch party at chase center beginning at four. san francisco's new coastal park is a record breaking success. the city's rec and parks department says an estimated 13,000 people came out to celebrate the grand opening of sunset dunes yesterday. it marked the second highest ever number of visits to that neighborhood in a single day, second only to the kaiser half marathon in 2022. sunset dunes is the voter approved two mile stretch of great highway, now permanently closed to cars. and i wish i had a place like this when i was in college to ride safely, but i love it. it's really safe feeling. it's there's a lot of families. it's sort of an all ages place to enjoy. sunset dunes is california's largest pedestrian project in history. it continues to face controversy and pushback with many commuters against closing a busy highway in a city already facing so many traffic problems. all right, time now to take you outside live. look over downtown san jose right there.

clear skies. rob mayeda. here to talk about, you know, a day like this, you can do anything outside. really? it was really nice. we had 70s and 80s around our inland areas, but the fog kind of sticking around on the coast overall, looking a bit more and feeling more like june outside. we've got one more day, just like today, tomorrow, but some changes ahead and it could get a little interesting as we head towards the middle part of the week. right now, there's another view of the sunny skies in san jose. one more day of summer like temperatures. then a cool down arrives and there is a slight chance we may see a few isolated showers and even sierra snow. we'll explain that coming up in just a minute. right now, let's give you a tour of the temperatures around the bay area. still 79 degrees in san jose, 83 in walnut creek. also did see 80 around san rafael into the north bay this afternoon, hanging on to 80 degrees here after 5:00. and san francisco, now 64 degrees earlier, climbing to 72. so everybody warming up today. and an interesting spread of temperatures that is very

similar to temperatures that you see during the summer of these 50s and 60s entrenched on the coast, 70s 80s inland. and the wind tells the story a clash of some offshore wind, which typically warms things up and dries things out. but here comes that persistent sea breeze right around the golden gate there and through the san bruno gap, keeping things around the peninsula and san francisco. cool. now, heading into tomorrow morning, we'll see the low clouds spilling back across the inner bay. may have some local drizzle at times, then back into the sunshine inland heading towards tomorrow afternoon. so mostly mid 50s to start things off tomorrow morning. by lunchtime inland upper 70s could be in reach and highs tomorrow low to mid 80s possible out towards the east bay valleys and areas south of san jose. but as we've been talking about cooler changes tuesday into wednesday now, highs dropping into the upper 60s and low 70s. and look at this increasing clouds coming up out of the south. there's a chance isolated showers could evolve out of this at times as we go through tuesday. notice here on the rain map, these

little tiny pockets here in blue, indicating the very isolated nature of those scattered showers. more interesting, though, is the air that's off to our east will be cold enough that we could see some sierra snow showers at times. if your travel plans include the sierra thursday into friday, look at that as we possibly wrap up the last ski weekend for many sierra ski resorts. a little more snow coming in towards the end of the week. good news though, for next weekend it does look like we'll get some clearing and warming arriving just in time for next weekend. so a warm start to the workweek, then tuesday through thursday. slight chance of isolated showers. could see a little more snow at times around the sierra. that would be on thursday and friday. overall though, good timing. we'll see more warming and clearing skies setting up just in time for next weekend. perfect. thanks, rob. okay, viva, cal is back. we're going ttake you to the big south bay celebration on wheels. plus celebrating all things cannabis. how some dispensaries are looking to boost sales ahead

it's just as much about community as it is about business and recreation. this is such a great event for the community because we're bringing out all sorts of local vendors, like here in our knox lot. we're partnering with san jose day, and we're bringing out hundreds of local vendors, artisans, musicians, food purveyors, and we're really showcasing all the great things in san jose by holding things here at viva. now, this year marks the 10th anniversary. several more events are planned later this year.. i love it, protect those dogs eyes. yes. okay. opening day for the sf space walk. week of weed celebration. many san francisco cannabis dispensaries are offering special promotions leading up to the unofficial marijuana holiday for 20. the haight street art center today debuted an exhibition called keep glowing. it featured a collection of vintage black light rock posters and a garden gallery patio party at the museum. the event features several marijuana brands with their plants all on display.

of celebrity big brother uk this weekend after making comments towards pop singer jojo siwa that she is calling homophobic. it started on wednesday's episode of the show when rourke inquired about the sexuality of siwa, who is openly gay. rourke made comments inferring that he could change siwa's sexuality. a spokesperson for the british network itv told nbc news that

rourke's comments and behavior continued yesterday with another castmate. tv personality chris hughes. the network did not disclose specifics about the disagreement, but called brooks behavior threatening and aggressive. the 72 year old agreed to leave the big brother house. he has not yet responded to a request for comment. after just two weeks in theaters, a minecraft movie is already the highest grossing hollywood release of the year. chicken jockey. none of the weekend's new releases came close to challenging minecraft. the warner brothers video game adaptation, starring jack black and jason momoa, followed up its blockbuster opening with a second weekend of more than $80 million in ticket sales. worldwide, it surpassed $550 million. it's bringing a much needed boost to the box office, with overall ticket sales twice as much this weekend than they were the same weekend last year. tonight, nbc's the americas continues with a look at

parade through hartford, connecticut. today they were celebrating their national championship. of course, some 20,000 fans turned out along the parade route to show their support. last sunday, the team beat south carolina 82 to 59. it's a uconn women's basketball team's 12th national championship since they won their first title 30 years ago. speaking of champions, local athletes who compete in gaelic football and hurling hit the field for the first time in seven months today. the san francisco gaelic athletic association practices and competes on treasure island and today was opening day. the championship cup is coming up fast, beginning on april 22nd. last year, local clubs won eight national championships, proving san francisco's status as a powerhouse in gaelic sports. organizers say expectations are high this year because of last
